Lahti, an hour north of Helsinki at the southern end of Lake Vesijärvi, is Finland's winter-sports capital — its three giant ski-jumping hills dominate the skyline and host the Nordic World Championships. FFGR Finland coordinates lakeside spa stays at Vääksy and Messilä, Sibelius Hall concert arrivals (a celebrated wooden concert hall on the harbour), and summer sailing on Vesijärvi. The city was a European Green Capital and pairs sport with the surrounding Salpausselkä ridge nature. It is the natural southern gateway to the lakeland for patrons travelling onward to Saimaa or the Päijänne archipelago.
