Savonlinna
Castle of opera — Olavinlinna on the waters of Saimaa.

Jet 1 h
Savonlinna, set on islands within Lake Saimaa, is the city of the Opera Festival — staged each July in the courtyard of Olavinlinna, the best-preserved medieval castle in the Nordic countries, built in 1475 on a rock in the rapids. Reached by FFGR Jets in an hour, the town is the cultural jewel of the eastern lakeland. FFGR Finland coordinates festival hospitality, lake-steamer arrivals at the castle quay, and stays at the historic Punkaharju resort along the celebrated esker ridge. Out of season the town reverts to a serene lake settlement of wooden villas and the great fortress reflected in still water.
